Love and the city

Valentine’s Day tends to be a great opinion divider. Some (mostly men) see it as a cynical marketing contrivance on the part of the greetings card industry to fill the sluggish period between Christmas and Easter. Others (mostly women) regard it as the perfect excuse to inject a bit of colour and romance into the most depressing month of the year. If you know from experience that your partner’s imagination is severely challenged by the whole farrago, place this magazine on a prominent table and leave it open at the following features.
Firstly, on page 38 we’ve come up with a handful of suggestions for the perfect meal out, from the classic to the exotic. On page 54 we’ve shopped for gifts that are a step up from the inevitable flowers and chocolates, while on page 20 we have our most romantic suggestion of all – how about tickets to the original rom-com, Noël Coward’s Private Lives, which teams sultry Kim ‘Sex and the City’ Cattrall with hearthrob Matthew ‘Mr Darcy’ Macfadyen? Kim talks exclusively to Kate Authers about her role and why she’s looking forward
to spending Valentine’s Day in Bath with her two leading men and a box of chocolates. Should she change her mind between now and then, we somehow doubt that she’ll be short of alternative offers . . .
