Royal visit
Huge excitement among the Bath Life fashionistas this week, as we pore over the details of a new exhibition heading towards the Fashion Museum. Those too young to remember the 1980s and early ‘90s cannot hope to understand the pop-cultural clout wielded by Diana, Princess of Wales, but for the rest of us the exhibition is a trip down memory lane; in her day, Di was, quite simply, impossible to ignore. As she matured from shy teenager to assured young mother, her dress sense echoed her journey, setting the tone for a generation; to see what all the fuss was about, turn to page 49.
Those more interested in interiors than frocks won’t feel shortchanged this fortnight, either. This magazine has been dubbed ‘Bath’s interiors bible’ and we take our responsibilities seriously; Kate passes on some of the tricks of the trade learned at a local workshop (page 12) while our resident homes guru Alison Sutton tackles more of your questions on page 68.
Unbelievably, we’ve still found time to play and party – did you make it to the Boules this year? If not, we bet our pictorial souvenir on pages 29-33 makes you wish you had. We also have photos from our own Bath Life summer party (page 19), held in the glamorous surroundings of the newly launched Hall and Woodhouse.
Happy days.
