Richard Watkins Exhibition
There is an exhibition of prints and sculpture by Richard Watkins, who
works iron in a forge and paper in the studio, at the Quest Gallery. It
is Watkins’ sensitive approach that creates the subtle results to be

Ancient Landscapes, Pastoral Visions
(Part One) is the new exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery, which
explores the Romantic response to the British landscape. Starting with
Samuel Palmer and William Blake, the exhibition’s ensuing themes
incorporate ancient
landscapes, trees, the Gothic, the traveller and nocturnes. Featured
artists include Henry Moore, Paul Nash, Stanley Spencer and Graham

Peter Wells Exhibition
The second exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery is Peter Wells: The Tamil Nadu 27.
Although Peter Wells studied in Bath in the 1970s and has been based
here ever since, he spends six months of the year travelling in India.

Mauger Modern Art Summer Collection
The first Summer Collection at Mauger Modern Art will feature work from Brazilian stencil artist Alexandre Orion,

collaged FBI targets from Ellwood T Risk and saucy nudes from Kate

William Travilla Exhibition
The Assembly Rooms, home to the Fashion Museum, is hosting a touring exhibition this summer of the work of
Hollywood designer William Travilla. With a career spanning over 40
years, Travilla was one of the most prolifc designers of the 20th
century. He is best known for dressing Marilyn Monroe for eight of her
flms and this exhibition showcases five prototypes of these dresses,
alongside two dresses designed for Marilyn for personal

Mixed Stock Exhibition
During August, the Adam Gallery will be displaying an exciting and varied display of recent works by established
contemporary gallery artists and 20th-century stock items, while also

A Study In Motion
The Atrium Gallery’s new exhibition A Study in Motion features the new bold, bright and vibrant images by Doug
McClelland. Best known for his dramatic sunsets over water in reds,

A Picture of Bath
A Picture of Bath is the Rostra and Rooksmoor’s annual exhibition celebrating Bath’s greatest artistic talent and

Nick Cudworth Exhibition
Once again Bath artist Nick Cudworth has been asked to exhibit his work
at Dyrham Park. Nick has created a series of paintings and pastel
drawings that take the paintings of Vermeer as his inspiration. This
year Nick will also be including landscapes of Bath and its surrounding
villages and countryside (until end of October).
Drawing in Space
A new exhibition, Drawing in Space by Lucy Austin, is on at the
Pound in Corsham until 13 September, A fnalist in the Jerwood Drawing
Prize 2007, Lucy uses everyday materials such as white paper straws,
black cable ties and masking tape to create fragile, multi-layered

Ellinor Thesen Summer Show
Local artist Ellinor Thesen will be holding a summer show of her recent
works at Mangia Bene, 5-6 St James Street, during the annual St James’s
Square Street party on 30 August from 6pm onwards. Ellinor, who was
born in 1920, has been painting for many years in her own distinctive
style. This is her second exhibition at Mangia Bene, the first one
having been a complete sell-out.
Icons of the Highway
The Royal Photographic Society will be showing work from husband and wife team Tony and Eva Worobiec this
September. The exhibition is a beautiful photographic essay about an
America that’s fast fading away. Their images of casinos, remnants of
movie palaces, burger shacks, and roadside sculptures all evoke a

Tangible Passion
Mauger Modern Art is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work
by Rodrigo Costa – an artist who paints deeply felt landscapes and
still lifes. Tangible Passion is certainly inspired by the beauty of
his native homeland Portugal but Rodrigo is a philosophical man – his
art refects an ongoing interest into what he calls the ‘soul of human
nature’ (until 10 Oct). The artist will be giving a short talk at the

Images of Devotion
As part of the Season of Tibet series this is the new exhibition at The
Museum of East Asian Art. The exhibition will showcase miniature
Buddhist-themed paintings from Mongolia (until 9 December).

Cosmic Design: Tibetan Mandala
Opening alongside Images of Devotion at The Museum of East Asian Art, the exhibition Cosmic Design: Tibetan Mandala will
feature a selection of mandalas, most from the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery
UK Trust. The mandala, a diagram of perfect worlds which Buddhas
inhabit, is found in various types of artworkin both Hindu and Buddhist
traditions, and within Buddhism has also developed into sandpainting.
The centrepiece of this exhibition will be a visit by Tibetan Buddhist
monks from the world renowned Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in India, from
