The Kids are all right
You couldn’t hope to find a better city for bringing up children than Bath.
It’s incredibly family-friendly; it’s easy to get from A to B; there are excellent schools in both the state and independent sectors, and both arty and sporty kids are well catered for when it comes to venues and facilities.
And it appears to be getting better and better. A couple of years ago, we gained the gorgeous, amazing egg theatre; last year saw the launch of a truly top-class festival of children’s literature, and next month sees the launch of a new sports academy run by ex-Bath and England rugby legend Steve Ojomoh.
With the summer holidays looming, we’ve decided to give much of this issue over to all things kid. We’re offered a sneak preview of the line-up at this year’s Children’s Literature Festival, take a look at the best toys and toy shops and mull over whether children and gardens mix. Our regular contributors Caroline, Nic and Jennifer have all given their columns a child-friendly twist, while for this issue’s Bath Lives we speak to self-styled ‘fun loving party animal’ Theo, who tells us what it’s like to be a teenager in Bath today.
Motoring correspondent Joe wonders if the BMW 5 series saloon is the ultimate family driving machine, while yummy (literally) mummy Sian Blunos has a healthy kids’ recipe that even the pickiest eaters will enjoy.
So, are we there yet? Almost...
